Aztec Tacos

Cookie Policy

Last updated: May 24, 2026

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Aztec Tacos Inc. (“Aztec Tacos,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website aztectacos.ca (the “Website”). This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

2. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They serve various purposes such as enabling the website to function, maintaining security, remembering preferences, and providing aggregate usage data. Cookies may be “session” cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” cookies (remaining on your device for a set period or until you delete them).

3. Cookies We Use

We use only essential and security-related cookies. We do not use advertising, marketing, or behavioural tracking cookies.

Cookie / Technology Provider Purpose Type
CSRF Token Aztec Tacos Protects form submissions against cross-site request forgery attacks. Ensures that form submissions originate from our Website. Essential (session)
Session / Auth Cookie (rt) Aztec Tacos Maintains authenticated sessions for administrative and staff users. Not set for public visitors. Essential (persistent)
Turnstile Cookies Cloudflare Verifies that form submissions (orders, reservations, contact, newsletter) are made by real people, not bots. May set cookies such as cf_clearance and __cf_bm. Security (session/persistent)
Stripe Cookies Stripe Enables secure payment processing and fraud prevention during checkout. Cookies such as __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid may be set when the payment form loads. Payment / Security (persistent)

4. Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused, open-source analytics service hosted in the European Union. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, does not track individual visitors, and does not use fingerprinting. All analytics data is aggregated and anonymous. No data is shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

For more information, see Plausible’s Data Policy.

5. Local Storage and Session Storage

In addition to cookies, our Website uses your browser’s local storage and session storage to provide a better experience. These technologies store data on your device and are not sent to our servers with every request. We use them for:

  • Shopping cart: Your cart contents (item selections, quantities, modifier notes) are stored locally so they persist as you browse the menu and order pages.
  • Order preferences: Contact details you enter during checkout may be stored locally for your convenience on return visits.
  • UI state: Minor interface preferences (e.g., expanded/collapsed sections) may be stored to improve usability.

Local storage data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you actively submit a form or place an order. You can clear local storage at any time through your browser settings.

6. Third-Party Cookies

The third-party cookies set by Cloudflare (Turnstile) and Stripe are managed by those respective providers. We do not control the specific cookies they set. For more information about their cookie and privacy practices, please refer to:

7. Managing and Disabling Cookies

Most web browsers allow you to view, manage, block, and delete cookies through their settings. The method varies by browser:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Please note: Blocking or deleting essential cookies may cause parts of the Website to malfunction. Specifically, form submissions (orders, reservations, contact, newsletter) require the CSRF cookie to function. Payment processing requires Stripe cookies. Bot verification requires Cloudflare Turnstile cookies.

8. Do Not Track (DNT)

Some browsers transmit a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. Because there is no industry-standard protocol for responding to DNT signals, our Website does not currently alter its behaviour in response to DNT. However, since we do not use tracking or advertising cookies, and our analytics service (Plausible) is privacy-focused and cookie-free, your browsing activity is not tracked for advertising purposes regardless of your DNT setting.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
